NetShare was the first application that gave users a taste of internet sharing/tethering (if only for 20mins), and now PDANet delievers the whole package. Apple’s app store it would appear does not allow applications to be sold on their store that allows tethering, software that basically turns your iPhone into a modem. NetShare got on to the store but was taken down, then put up again and finally taken down for good. Other applications have been released available to people who have jail broken there phone via Cydia. These included iPhoneModem zsrelay and iPhoneModem by Addition. These both work via a protocol called socks 5 which works like a proxy. It requires you to setup socks 5 info in your programs that use the internet (such as Firefox) or installing an application that will re-route all the internet traffic for all programs on your computer for you. Both of these things require some work and in many cases don’t work in a lot of configurations. PDANet is different however, read on to find out why.
The iPhone is this year’s hottest gadget, and with a list as long as of features it is a shock to some new iPhone owners that the device lacks the ability to use the device as a massive thumbdrive. With a minium of 8GB and max of 16Gb storage capasity definatly isnt the limiting factor. It would seem that this would be a corporate limitation that has stopped this feature, although it seems strange that this feature can be found on older modes of the iPod and iPod shuffle. It could be that they feel this would open up the device to hackers, although the rule with hacking is not if, but when (its only a matter of time till something get hacked). Read on to find out how to turn your iPhone into a thumbdrive.

After using Chrome for awhile i decided to use it as my main browser. When I first ran Chrome I thought I had approved it as my default browser, yet when I clicked links in many of my programs they opened in Firefox. To move full browser control over to Chrome all you need to do is click on the spanner, go to options, and click “Make Google Chrome my default browser”. You might Images after the break.
